We have partnered with Carraig Rua Bakery in Carrick-on-Shannon, a small artisan bakery, that use traditional methods, proper ingredients and no nasty additives, everything is organically certified.

Each loaf is carefully handmade over 48 hours, during which time the flavours and textures develop, giving the bread amazing flavour, texture and character that can't be found in mass-produced loaves.

From sourdough to rich, moist rye, Carraig Rua's range of bread is baked to perfection, using only the best organic ingredients.

Description:

Our Organic Wheat & Rye Sourdough is crafted with a blend of organic wheat flour, organic rye flour, and organic wholemeal rye flour, using our own homemade sourdough starter for a rich, complex flavour. Slow fermented for up to 30 hours, it develops a deep, tangy sourdough character. It’s carefully proved in baskets, giving it its distinctive shape and crust. Perfect toasted with butter and honey.

This hand-made, slow fermented loaf was part baked ready to be finished in your oven and enjoyed at home.

Freshly baked with no additives, the way bread is supposed to be. If you’re not planning to bake it straight away, our loaves freeze exceptionally well and can be enjoyed at a later date.

 

When you receive your bread please to get the very best experience do the following:

 

Either

1.      bake on day or day after arrival.

2.      Freeze on day or day after arrival.

            If freezing, please ensure bread is fully defrosted prior to baking.

 

Directions for baking:

1.      Preheat oven to 180-190C

2.      Sprinkle bread generously with water (both bottom and top of bread           should be moist before putting in oven)

3.      Place bread directly onto oven shelf for approx. 15 mins.

4.      Leave bread to cool for 20-30 mins.

5.      Eat lovely fresh bread.
