The Gruyère is a well-known Swiss cheese, which has been made according to a traditional recipe around the town of Gruyères since 1115. The cheese owes its fine, typical flavour to the first-class raw milk from cows in the Gruyère region. Swiss Gruyère is very rich in flavour and aroma and has a firm structure. A real friend to everyone: it is great on a cheese board and ideal for use in hot dishes, such as cheese fondue. Please note: this cheese is made from raw milk and is therefore not suitable for pregnant women.

Gruyere cheese is not entirely lactose-free but contains significantly less lactose than many other dairy products. During the cheesemaking process, most of the lactose in the milk is converted into lactic acid, reducing its lactose content. This makes Gruyere cheese more tolerable for individuals with lactose intolerance.
