CHRISTMAS WEEK 19 DEC PDF Print E-mail

Thank to all of you for ordering a Christmas order whether it is a box of eggs or a big Christmas hamper. All of your orders count, and every-day we realise we couldn’t be in business if it wasn’t for you. From everybody here on the farm AnnaClare, Celine, Martin, Sean, Shay, Silvio and my-self we would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a peaceful and healthy new year. Most of all we hope you have a roaringly great Christmas dinner!!!

Christmas closure and reopening dates  We are closed next week the week beginning the 26th Dec. We are not making any deliveries during this week. We will reopen for business again on the 3rd of January 2012. All the deliveries this week will go ahead but your delivery day will be a day out (if you currently get your delivery on the Tuesday you will get it just for this week on the Wednesday etc.) as we are not working this bank holiday.

January news  We have loads of produce still coming off the farm and we are eagerly awaiting the first new lettuce and have our own new salad leaves available now! we hope to have our own lettuce the boxes again in early January. We will be harvesting fresh every week, parsnips, leeks, cabbage, scallions (soon) swede, kale and chard and of course the first salad of the New Year! You certainly won’t get this anywhere else!

I would like to thank AnnaClare, Celine, Martin, Sean, Shay, and Silvio for their massive contribution to the success of the business this year. They have all been outstanding in their efforts, and the work is not always easy. Thanks also to Patricia from Rent-A-Cook who has been providing the recipes for your boxes each week, and the lovely treats in the Christmas boxes too!

Sad news  It is also with great sadness that we now say good bye to Silvio. Many of you will know him from the pictures over the years and from Moycullen market.  He has without any doubt in my mind been instrumental in the positive changes that have occurred here over the past 4 years. He joined us from a small organic farm in Clare at the start of 2008 and has spent 4 years here at Green Earth Organics Farm. I think one of his (many) biggest contributions was convincing me to grow salad leaves, it took a while but he persisted and it has become a large part of our business! Silvio is going on to manage his own farm in MountBellew and you can still visit him on the Galway market every Saturday morning.

We are also saying good-bye to another excellent employee. AnnaClare has been with us for 9 months and has really excelled in her job, she is now intending to move to Cork. She has showed great aptitude for organic growing and has been very enthusiastic about learning the craft and a massive help on the farm.

So thank you AnnaClare and Silvio.  I thought it only appropriate to include a couple of photos of times you have spent on the farm.
